Resume Tip — Skills Section That Looks Professional
Most resumes either list too many skills or put random tools with no order.
Here’s a structure that makes your skills look organised and credible:
✅ 1. Divide your skills into 4 categories
A. Languages
Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, SQL
B. Frameworks & Libraries
React.js, Node.js, Express.js, Spring Boot, Django, Pandas
C. Tools & Technologies
Git, GitHub, Docker, Postman, Jenkins, AWS
D. Databases
MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL
This looks clean, professional, and easy to scan.
✅ 2. Keep each category to 4–6 items maximum
Long lists = weak resume.
Short, relevant lists = stronger.
✅ 3. Put your strongest skills first
Recruiters only scan for 3–5 seconds.
Order matters.
✅ 4. Add one line below Skills (optional but VERY powerful):
“Used these skills in personal projects like X and Y (available on GitHub).”
This shows you didn’t just copy-paste skills — you applied them.
❌ What NOT to include:
• “Basic knowledge of…”
• “Familiar with…”
• Tools you used once in a school lab
• Soft skills like teamwork, leadership (belongs in projects, not skills)
• 20+ skills (looks fake)
