Apply even if you’re only 60–70% qualified.

Look, I’ll tell you honestly — most people don’t miss opportunities because they’re underqualified… they miss them because they never even apply.

Job descriptions look scary because they list everything the company wishes for. Very few candidates actually match all of it. And companies know that.

Here’s what I’ve personally seen again and again:

  • People who felt “not ready” still got shortlisted.

  • Students who lacked 2–3 skills still moved ahead.

  • Almost 50% of shortlists came from candidates who were doubting themselves.

  • The ones who applied despite feeling unsure often did better than the ones who waited to feel “perfect.”

Recruiters aren’t hunting for the most perfect candidate — they’re hunting for the most promising candidate. Someone who understands the basics, has done a few projects, can think clearly, and shows they’re willing to learn.

They don’t care if you’re missing one framework or haven’t used one tool mentioned in the JD.

They care about:

  • your fundamentals

  • your problem-solving

  • your consistency

  • your attitude

  • your curiosity

  • your willingness to grow on the job

So if you understand the main responsibilities, even if you don’t know everything else, you’re already in a good position to apply.

Please don’t reject yourself before the company even gets the chance to look at you.

I’ve seen so many students lose months because they were waiting to feel “fully ready.”

You don’t need to be 100%.

You just need to be willing to take the shot.

Apply anyway — you’ll be surprised how often potential beats perfection.
