Rejections Are Part of the Process
Getting rejected never feels neutral.
No matter how much we tell ourselves it’s “normal”, it still stings.
You spend time applying.
You prepare.
You maybe even start imagining yourself in that role.
And then it’s a no — or worse, no reply at all.
It’s natural to start questioning yourself:
• Was my resume not good enough?
• Did I say something wrong?
• Am I falling behind?
Most people go through this. Quietly.
The hard truth is — many rejections have very little to do with you.
Sometimes:
• Hiring plans change
• Budgets get frozen
• Someone internal fills the role
• The team was looking for something slightly different
You don’t see any of that from the outside.
What helps:
Try not to treat every rejection as a verdict
Not every “no” carries a lesson.
Some are just dead ends.
Look for patterns, not isolated outcomes
One rejection is just noise.
Repeated feedback is where clarity comes from.
Separate your effort from the result
You can show up, prepare well, and still not get selected.
That doesn’t cancel the work you put in.
Keep going — even when confidence dips
Momentum is fragile, but stopping completely makes it harder to restart.
Count small signs of progress
A reply.
A longer conversation.
An interview that felt better than the last one.
These matter, even if they don’t turn into offers immediately.
Rejections don’t mean you’re failing.
They usually mean you’re still in the middle of the process.
And for most people, the middle is the hardest part.
