A simple way to check if your resume is too dense

There’s a common problem that doesn’t get noticed easily.

Some resumes are strong, but tiring to read.

Not because the content is bad.

Because everything is packed tightly.

Long bullets.

Multiple ideas in one line.

Too many tools mentioned together.

When someone reviews dozens of resumes in a day, dense text becomes harder to process.

Try this small check:

Open your resume and read only the first page without slowing down.

If you find yourself rereading sentences to understand them, the text is too heavy.

Fixing this doesn’t require rewriting everything.

You can:

– Split long bullets into two shorter ones

– Remove one extra detail from crowded lines

– Keep each bullet focused on a single idea

– Leave small gaps between sections

Clarity often improves more from spacing and simplicity than from adding stronger words.

A resume doesn’t need to look impressive at first glance.

It needs to feel easy to read.
