A small LinkedIn detail that affects how seriously you’re taken
There’s a section most people ignore on LinkedIn.
The first two lines of your most recent experience.
When someone clicks your profile, they don’t read everything.
They scan:
– Headline
– Current company
– First 1–2 lines under your latest role
If those lines are vague, your profile feels junior — even if you’re not.
For example:
“Working on various projects and technologies.”
That tells nothing.
Instead, the first two lines under your current role should clearly say:
– What you mainly handle
– What kind of problems you work on
Something like:
“Handling backend APIs and database logic for internal tools.”
“Managing weekly reporting and data validation processes.”
“Working on frontend feature updates and bug fixes.”
You don’t need long paragraphs.
Just clarity.
Most people focus heavily on the About section.
In reality, recruiters often decide within the Experience section.
Try this simple check:
Open your profile on your phone.
Don’t scroll too much.
Can you understand your own role clearly in 5 seconds?
If not, rewrite just those first two lines.
Small edits in the right place change perception more than big edits elsewhere.
