Something worth paying attention to:

Many candidates are filtered out long before skills or potential are evaluated.

This usually happens at the resume-scan stage.

At that point, recruiters are not deeply reading.

They are quickly checking whether the profile clearly aligns with the role.

A few things that commonly reduce clarity:

  • Relevant skills or tools appear too late in the resume

  • Important experience is mixed with unrelated work

  • The resume tries to show effort instead of relevance

A more effective approach:

  • Read the job description slowly once

  • Notice which skills, tools, or responsibilities are repeated

  • Check whether those same words appear naturally in your resume’s top half

This doesn’t mean adding anything new.

It usually means reordering or rephrasing what already exists.

Another small but impactful change is removing noise.

  • Older or unrelated projects can be shortened or moved down

  • One strong, role-aligned example is better than multiple generic ones

  • Clear language works better than dense or clever wording

When an email application is available, simplicity helps.

  • Mention the role name

  • Mention one or two relevant skills or experiences

  • Attach the resume

Long introductions or explanations rarely help at this stage.

The goal here isn’t to optimise for algorithms or exaggerate ability.

It’s to make the connection between you and this role visible quickly.

When relevance is easy to see, good profiles move forward more often — even without referrals or follow-ups.
