A small resume trick that helps recruiters read your profile faster

When recruiters open a resume, they usually spend only a short time scanning the first half of the page.

During that scan, they are not reading every word.

They are trying to quickly understand what kind of work you usually do.

If the important details are buried inside long paragraphs or dense bullet points, the reader may miss them even if the experience is strong.

Here’s a simple trick that makes your resume easier to scan.

Look at the first bullet under each role and treat it as a summary of your main responsibility in that position.

Instead of starting with something broad like:

“Worked on various backend services and features.”

Try making the first line more specific about your primary focus.

For example:

“Handled backend APIs and database logic for the payments module.”

After that first line, the following bullets can describe specific tasks or improvements.

This approach helps the reader quickly understand your role before diving into details.

If someone only reads the first bullet under each experience, they should still have a clear idea of the kind of work you did.

It’s a small adjustment, but it makes the structure of the resume much easier to process during a quick review.
